Fairly Simple

There are just so many gold-buying websites to choose from that it’s hard to distinguish one from another. MyGoldEnvelope.com, however, tries to stand out with a few interesting offers.

The Hook
To prove that their business is offering the highest rates in the Internet, MyGoldEnvelope.com launched its Double G Guarantee program. If you had your items returned from another gold-buying website, MyGoldEnvelope.com dares you to compare by offering them the very same items. If their offer turns out to be lower than what was previously offered then MyGoldEnvelope.com will automatically double the payment of the first offer.

It sounds like a good deal, doesn’t it? But beware the many traps that lie beyond. How do you get another company to appraise your items and ensure that they’ll be safely returned to your possession? Would you truly be satisfied even if you’re paid double their offer?

More Troubling Data from BBB
Unusually enough, MyGoldEnvelope.com actually has two listings with the Better Business Bureau but perhaps it shouldn’t have bothered as both pages provided low ratings.

Its first page listed the website as having been established in October 2007 and with offices located at Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In its three years of service, however, it had already been targeted by as many as 50 complaints. Admittedly, forty-eight of these have been resolved while two cases had been resolved with partial refunds. But the figure is still alarmingly high, making the reason behind its D rating patently clear.

Its second page has the website registered under a new business named My Gold Envelope Inc. Its other page had identified Doug Feirstein as Owner but the latter revealed no information about its personnel beyond acknowledging it has a single employee working in the company. It also had a change of address from Florida to Jackson, Wyoming and identifies Dollars4Gold.com as a sister website.

A little bit of mystery always makes people or events more entertaining but not when it comes to businesses. It’s best to wait for MyGoldEnvelope.com to shed some light on its conflicting data before trusting them with your valuables.
